A fascinating video showing dolphins playing in the ocean off the coast of San Diego has captured the extraordinary heights to which they can jump out of the water.

Bottlenose dolphins were filmed playing together, performing synchronized jumps out of the water through the waves.

The person who captured the moment, Captain Erica Sackrison of whale watching company Gone Whale Watching, said: “The greatest dolphin show in the world is the one that happens in the wild!”

A mesmerizing video of dolphins playing in the ocean off the coast of San Diego has captured the extraordinary heights to which they can jump out of the water.

The audience was amazed at the height the dolphins jumped, prompting questions as to whether they were “trying to see who could jump the highest.”

“It’s been a great summer for watching acrobatic bottlenose dolphins offshore, and today Captain Erica Sackrison was able to capture these magnificent animals doing what they do best.

“You could see them jumping about 20 feet up…it almost looked like they were doing Olympic-style jumps, like they were all trying to do like Simone Biles and touch the sky and come back down. It was awesome,” she told CBS 8 San Diego.
