The fire tore through the three-bedroom semi-detached house in the early hours of Wednesday morning and emergency services were called just after 2am.

A video shows the force of the flames shooting out of the windows of the house.

Terrified onlookers can be heard screaming as firefighters bravely try to put out the blaze.

A 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and is currently in hospital in critical condition, police said.

Police confirmed that Bryonie died at the scene of the fire while the three children died in hospital.

An initial investigation showed the Bradford fire was deliberately started and believed to be a domestic crime, police said.

Heartbreaking photos showed children’s toys and damaged furniture strewn across the back garden.

Charred windows and doors also revealed a scene of devastation following the fire at the semi-detached property.

Floral tributes were left at the scene of the fire yesterday after the blaze tore through the property.

A heartbreaking note on a card left at the scene read: “To Bryony (sic), Denisty (sic), Oscar + Aubree.

“Thinking of you in these difficult times. Have fun in paradise. We will miss you.”

Neighbours on Westbury Road reported hearing “screams” coming from the house after about five fire engines and a dozen ambulances arrived just after 2am.

Others saw smoke “coming out of the house” and smelled “burning rubber” as the property caught fire.

A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “Flames and smoke were coming out of the house. We were shocked.

“There was really thick smoke coming up the street. It filled the whole area. It was hazy. It was overwhelming.

“We could hear screams. I was afraid to go up there and see because we don’t know what’s going on. It’s something huge that happened. It’s scary.”

Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson said: “This is an absolutely devastating incident in which three children and a woman have lost their lives.

“Our thoughts are with their family, friends and loved ones.

“Initial investigations show that the fire was started deliberately and we have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.

“He is seriously ill in hospital from injuries caused by the fire.

“Although our investigations are still at an early stage, we currently believe the incident to be domestic in nature.

“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or has CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward.”

Speaking at the scene, Superintendent Lucy Leadbeater said: “Our thoughts are with the family, their friends and the community at this sad time.”
