Liverpool let star talent Harvey Blair leave for a small fee

There has been something of a clean-up at Liverpool this summer and the Reds are ready to sell another young talent as Harvey Blair is set to join Championship club Portsmouth.

After a difficult few years, Pompey are back in the English second division and are hoping to stay there by strengthening their squad. Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has seen a number of free transfers added to his squad this summer and now a young Liverpool player is on the way.

The Athletic reports that Portsmouth are close to signing Harvey Blair from the Merseyside club in a deal worth £300,000.

The 20-year-old has already been allowed to agree personal terms with Pompey and is expected to undergo a medical soon.

Blair has been at Liverpool since 2015, when he joined the Reds’ academy and was handed his senior debut by Jurgen Klopp against Preston North End in the League Cup in October 2021.

The forward featured in all three matches of Liverpool’s pre-season tour of America this summer, but with the talent Arne Slot already has to choose from for his forward line, the youngster was not going to get many minutes throughout the 2024/25 campaign.

Liverpool continue to sort through their young talent

Blair is one of a number of young talents to leave Liverpool this summer as Arne Slot clears out the squad he inherited from Klopp.

Calvin Ramsay and Rhys Williams have left the Premier League side on loan for the season, while Fabio Carvalho, Bobby Clark and soon Sepp van den Berg are parting ways with the Merseyside outfit for good.

Blair now joins that list as a new era has begun at Liverpool under their new structure and new manager.
