The One Show and Match of the Day presenter sacked by BBC

Jermaine Jenas, who presents The One Show and appears on Match of the Day for the BBC, has been sacked by the corporation following complaints about his conduct at work.

The 41-year-old former footballer has been removed from both primetime shows.

A BBC spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Jermaine Jenas is no longer part of our presenting team.”

It appears that issues were raised with the broadcaster a few weeks ago and action has been taken.

He last appeared on air at the beginning of the summer.

Jenas made his football debut at the age of 17 and played for Nottingham Forest, Spurs and Newcastle United. He went on to play 341 times and make 21 appearances for England.

He retired in 2016 at the age of 32, although he has not played since 2014.

Jenas turned to media work as a pundit while recovering from a knee injury and became a regular on Match of the Day, as well as BT Sport. He has presented The One Show since 2020.

He and a friend set up the Aquinas Foundation to help motivate and raise the aspirations of young people in Nottingham schools.

In December 2023, it was announced that he would receive an honorary degree from Nottingham Trent University.
