“A bus carrying 51 Pakistani pilgrims overturned and caught fire outside the Dehshir-Taft checkpoint in the central province of Yazd on Tuesday night,” Iranian state television reported.

The Iranian and Pakistani foreign ministries expressed their condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry also said that the Pakistani consul in Zahedan had been asked to visit the accident site to provide medical assistance to the injured and arrange for the repatriation of the bodies to Pakistan.

Most of the victims are residents of Larkana, where the bus journey began.
