Cedar Rapids Kennedy’s Nick Brooks (73) prepares before a play during a Class 5A high school football game against Dowling Catholic, Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, at Kingston Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

After announcing his top three teams earlier this month, four-star offensive lineman Nick Brooks revealed his choice Friday afternoon. Brooks officially committed to the Texas Longhorns, choosing Steve Sarkisian’s team over Georgia and USC.

Brooks has long been considered a Bulldog fan, but he has started to lean heavily toward Texas in recent days.

He stands 6’3″ and weighs 350 pounds. He played his freshman year at Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before transferring to Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia, for the upcoming season. He is ranked as the No. 14 tackle in the country and the No. 20 player in Georgia.

Brooks’ commitment gives the Longhorns a much-needed recruiting win in a class that got off to a bit slower start than those in recent years, placing them 12th nationally and eighth in the SEC.

The Bulldogs currently sit fourth nationally, behind only Ohio State, Alabama and LSU, respectively, according to 247Sports’ composite team rankings. Georgia currently holds commitments from four offensive linemen in the 2025 class.
