A 70s bathroom revamped with inspiration from Scandinavian spas

The textured bathroom is inspired by Scandinavian spas.

From the beginning, Amala knew she wanted to take inspiration from Scandinavian spas with wood slats and “incorporate dark marbles to bring the space to life.” She opted for a neutral, calming taupe (Little Greene Paint Co.’s Mushroom) for the bathroom walls.

When installing the shower, the couple was able to fulfill their dream of adding a steam shower to their home by installing a Mr. Steam system and adding extra perks like a bench, touchscreen, built-in speakers, and chromatherapy lighting. “(They) really make it feel like we’re visiting a spa!” says Amala.

“By balancing the same stone for the shower bench, trim and vanity countertop, I was able to create a flow that made the space feel cohesive and spacious,” she adds.
