Hello Kitty opens cafe in Tokyo for 50th anniversary

Sanrio is taking the big leap into 2024, as this year marks a big event: Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary. While there have been a slew of special events And collaborations To commemorate the big five-o of the pussy, the festivities are not over yet. Soon, a Hello Kitty 50th Anniversary Cafe will open for a limited time in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya from September to October.

This incredibly cute anniversary cafe will be themed in red. It will feature a special menu including a two-tiered tea set (¥6,590) with a variety of adorable Kitty-themed dishes. The afternoon tea set features both Hello Kitty and her twin, Hello Mimmy.

Other highlights on the menu include this Hello Kitty sandwich (¥1,690) topped with Coronation chicken curry. It’s served with a side salad and minestrone soup.

Inspired by Hello Kitty’s iconic red bow, this ribbon pasta (¥1,690) features fusilli sautéed in a garlic cream sauce.

There’s also this cute rice dish (¥1,690), where the rich custard base is topped with a soft-boiled egg (hidden underneath) and apple-shaped red ketchup rice.

Of course, a cafe can’t do without desserts. Check out these Hello Kitty pancakes (¥1,590) served with applesauce and custard.

There’s also a Birthday Parfait (¥1,490) assembled to look like a two-tiered birthday cake.

Drink-wise, you can’t go wrong with a classic strawberry milkshake (¥990) topped with a coconut rim. You can even jazz up your drink by purchasing cute straws for an additional ¥660.

Hello Kitty Soda (¥990) is another refreshing option made with apple and pomegranate-flavored soda. It’s topped with an apple-shaped scoop of raspberry sorbet.

Prefer something hot? Opt for the latte (¥990) served in a cute and original mug featuring Hello Kitty and Hello Mimmy. This mug is also available for purchase at the cafe for ¥2,200.

Finally, the colorful Kitty and Mimmy drink (¥990) can be enjoyed at the café or to go. It is inspired by the twins’ respective colors – red and yellow – and is flavored with strawberry and lemon.

The anniversary cafe will also feature a range of exclusive merchandise, including badges (¥605), stickers (¥605), acrylic keychains (¥770), drawstring bags (¥1,540), mini towels (¥1,540), heart-shaped mirrors (¥2,200), and eco-friendly bags (¥2,750 each).
