Liverpool youngster is now set to leave Anfield to join the champions

Liverpool are yet to officially sign any players this summer, but the Reds have managed to make a positive return on two young players who left on permanent deals.

Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg both left Anfield for Brentford this summer in transfers that could earn Liverpool up to £50million if all add-ons are met, with the young players unlikely to stand a chance in the Merseyside giants’ senior team.

With Liverpool now turning their attention to Federico Chiesa, Arne Slot’s side finally look set to attack the transfer market with some signings of their own, with the Dutch manager aware that arrivals are needed if the Reds are to be competitive.

Yet it appears that another young Liverpool player could be on the verge of a move this summer.

Tyler Morton interested in Bayer Leverkusen move amid transfer talks

Tyler Morton is reportedly interested in a move to Bayer Leverkusen, according to Florian Plettenberg, with the Bundesliga champions in talks to bring the Liverpool midfielder to Germany.

Plettenberg wrote: “To replace Gustavo Puerta, Bayer 04 Leverkusen are now looking to sign Tyler Morton. Negotiations with Liverpool are taking place today. There is talk of a loan with an option/obligation to buy. The 21-year-old midfielder wants to join Leverkusen and Xabi Alonso.”

With Morton impressing on loan over the last two seasons, a permanent move to a club as exciting as Leverkusen would be a real step forward for the 21-year-old midfielder, who could impress in Germany with the reigning champions.

Furthermore, the chance to play under Xabi Alonso could do wonders for Morton’s development, with the former Liverpool maestro the perfect mentor for any young midfielder looking to take the next step in their career.

Morton should do everything he can to secure Leverkusen transfer

Morton is one of Liverpool’s most promising youth prospects, but with the midfielder unlikely to feature in Slot’s first-team plans this season, a permanent change of scenery could be just what the England international needs.

And no proposition this summer could be better than Leverkusen, with the German champions one of the most exciting teams in Europe under Alonso and this season looking set to be another entertaining one.

Indeed, the Bundesliga has proven to be an exceptional league for young English talents looking for their big break at the highest level, and Leverkusen can be just that for Morton this summer.
