APD: 2 people charged in alleged murder of 19-year-old

It all happened over the sale of an ATV, police say.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police have arrested one of two suspects charged in connection with the alleged murder of a 19-year-old last month.

Guillermo Muñoz Delgado, 29, is accused of fatally shooting Christian Aragon, 19, during an Aug. 24 altercation over an all-terrain vehicle. Trinasha McDaniel, 34, is also accused of playing a role in the altercation.

Aragon and his friends were at a tobacco store near Central when McDaniel arrived with an ATV. Aragon expressed interest in purchasing the ATV and wanted to try it out, which led to an argument between McDaniel and an acquaintance.

Police say Aragon and his friend helped start the SUV and Aragon took it for a ride. Then, when they said he didn’t return with the vehicle, McDaniel and some of his friends became upset and thought the teens were trying to steal the SUV.

It was at that point that a man, identified as Muñoz Delgado, allegedly pulled out a gun and forced Aragon’s friends to take him to the place where, according to Aragon, the ATV had broken down.

When investigators found Aragon, Muñoz Delgado allegedly pulled out the gun again. This time, Aragon’s friend began to struggle with him over the gun. That’s when Muñoz Delgado fired, hitting Aragon, investigators said.

According to reports, Aragon was also in possession of a firearm and fired several shots, hitting Muñoz Delgado. Aragon later died from his injuries.

Police say McDaniel retrieved Aragon’s gun and fled the scene.

Muñoz Delgado is charged with murder with a firearm and three counts of kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police are also looking for McDaniel, who is charged with kidnapping and tampering with evidence.

Muñoz Delgado was already accused of drug trafficking. He will appear in court on Monday, where he will decide whether to remain in prison until his trial.
