Saints begin to form a back four and release Roderic Teamer

The New Orleans Saints began making roster moves on roster cuts day, with the deadline fast approaching and roster cuts likely coming in droves at some point today. One of the first to be released was former Las Vegas Raiders safety Roderic Teamer, according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.

The back end was going to be extremely difficult to crack right off the bat, with Tyrann Mathieu, Jordan Howden, Johnathan Abram and JT Gray all being near-safeties. Plus, the back end could warrant an extra player with Rico Payton having been so good in the preseason.

Unfortunately, Roderic Teamer ended up being one of the players off the roster and was released to find a new team. He may eventually return as a practice squad player, as he had a quality preseason and was a good enough player to warrant another long-term look as a depth player in the secondary defense.
