Biden administration tells judges that gender-based health care ban constitutes sex discrimination

The Biden administration and a group of transgender teens this week presented their first argument before the U.S. Supreme Court against a wave of state laws banning gender reassignment care for minors.

In one of the biggest transgender rights cases to ever come before the court, the nine justices will consider in this upcoming term the legality of a Tennessee law that bars doctors from prescribing puberty blockers and hormone therapy to treat gender dysphoria in trans youth.
