Torrential rains wreak havoc in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh

For the second consecutive day, torrential rains have lashed Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, leading to at least 10 more deaths, flooding and inundation in several areas, and causing major disruption to road and rail traffic.

The South Central Railway reported the cancellation of 99 trains, the partial cancellation of four and the diversion of 54 due to track congestion, according to an official statement.

National and regional disaster response forces evacuated thousands of people to relief camps as rivers in both states were in spate. Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured the chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana of all possible help from the central government to manage the crisis.
