C Spire Announces New Partnerships with Ole Miss and Mississippi State Student Athletes

RIDGELAND, Miss. (August 30, 2024) – C Spire, a diversified telecommunications and technology services company, today announced new partnerships with two college athletes: Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart and Mississippi State Bulldogs basketball guard Josh Hubbard.

With these two partnerships, C Spire is focused on promoting the positive use of digital technologies and social media, as well as helping to make the digital world safer for individuals and businesses.

Recent research has linked social media use to issues like anxiety and depression in teens. While some evidence shows that social media can help teens feel more connected and accepted, studies from Yale Medicine show that social media can also expose young people to bullying, envy, peer pressure, and other inappropriate content that can lead to negative mental and physical consequences.

“Growing up, social media was always a part of the conversation, but I didn’t let that tell my story. Social media has many benefits, but developing deep relationships with my family, friends and coaches outside of social media has always been important to me as well,” said Josh Hubbard.

“I had the right people by my side who helped guide me and make sure I was seeing things as they were rather than as they were presented online,” said Jaxson Dart. “By partnering with C Spire, I want to be able to help other people take that approach and make progress every day.”

“We have a long history of sports love at C Spire and are thrilled to partner with Jaxson and Josh. But these partnerships are about more than just working with great players,” said Suzy Hays, President and CEO of C Spire. “As college athletes in the spotlight, Josh and Jaxson are adept at using social media to stay connected with family, friends and fans. We believe their example can help others keep their own social media relationships in perspective as we continue C Spire’s mission to improve lives through technology.”

C Spire has a long history of helping people and businesses use technology in positive ways. The company launched its first “Don’t Text and Drive” campaign in 2010 with then-NFL player and star rookie Dexter McCluster. C Spire Business, which provides connectivity, collaboration and IT management services, offers cybersecurity tools to help businesses and their customers protect themselves from digital threats.
