At the press conference, Rhodes was asked about the upcoming Netflix documentary series and the hot topic of sexual misconduct allegations against McMahon. Rhodes addressed the abuse allegations and provided a candid response to both topics.
In response to the Netflix series question, he confirmed that WWE had no role in its production. “I think that’s a great question. As for whether I’m going to watch it – not to sound cheeky, but I’m rewatching Game of Thrones, and that’s a big commitment. I don’t know. I think there’s a little bit of misinformation out there in that WWE has no involvement in that documentary as far as I know. I guess I’ll see it eventually,” he said of the matter.
The question then turned to McMahon, who found himself on the receiving end of a serious allegation when Janel Grant accused him of sexually assaulting her. The question was specifically about why the WWE locker room had remained silent on the matter. He offered a rather neutral take on the matter, declining to offer his direct opinion or hold anyone accountable. Instead, he deflected on how professional obligations could not allow them to engage in discussions on the subject. Speaking on the matter, he said:
“On the more serious side, on the silence in the locker room, I don’t think it’s a matter of belief or non-belief, I think it’s strictly speaking, we want to do what we were doing out there. And the focus and the attention that it takes, 13,149 people to have a great story and a great match and do that every night, has left us in a situation where we find the information the same way you do. And that includes resolving that information in terms of what happened, how it happened and how justice is served, whatever it may be. I wouldn’t see that as an active attempt by the locker room to keep quiet. We’re just doing what we do on a day-to-day basis, the business of WWE… I don’t know enough about the information to give you a good enough answer. I’m sorry.”
Rhodes’ comments reflect a broader sense of detachment from the controversialfocusing instead on his commitment to his wrestling career and the ongoing demands of his role with WWE. His responses highlight the difficult balance between personal views and professional responsibilities in the face of such serious allegations.
