Former President Donald Trump denied having any “tension” with Joe Rogan after fantasizing about the podcaster being booed at UFC events in a Truth Social podcast.

In an interview with Lex Fridman In a post published Tuesday, Trump was asked about the “little tension” between him and Rogan. Earlier this month, Trump said it would be “interesting” to see how much Rogan would get booed at his next UFC event — Rogan is a longtime fight commentator. Trump’s post followed Rogan’s statement on his podcast that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was the only 2024 presidential candidate who seemed “logical” to him. Rogan stopped short of giving him his full support, but some critics interpreted his comments as such.

Kennedy Jr. has since supported Trump. Fridman called Trump’s response to Rogan “unfair.”

“I think it was a little unfair and as a fan of Joe, I would love to see you do his podcast because he really is the best conversationalist in the world. So what’s the story behind that tension?” Fridman asked.

Trump said he wasn’t sure he wanted to be on Rogan’s podcast and that he only knew the comedian and podcaster through their brief interactions at UFC events and their mutual friend, the UFC president. Dana White.

“I don’t think there was any tension. I’ve always liked him, but I don’t know him. I only see him when I walk into the arena with Dana and shake his hand. I see him there and I think he’s good at what he does, but I don’t know if he would do his podcast. I guess I would, but I haven’t been asked and I don’t ask them. I don’t ask anybody,” he said.

Trump then called Rogan “somewhat liberal” and insisted that he “appreciates” that Rogan supports Kennedy, a politician Trump described as a “different guy.”

“He’s a pretty liberal guy, I guess, from what I understand, but he loves Kennedy and that was before Kennedy came with us,” he said.
