CINCINNATI (WXIX) — Bail was set at $150,000 this week in Hamilton County for a murder suspect in a double shooting who posted a video on Facebook of herself shooting two women.

Akira Fletcher, 23, is accused of killing Nyema Norton, 29, in the early morning shooting on July 12 behind Avondale Town Center on Reading Road.

Norton and the second woman who was shot were taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Norton died on August 24.

Four days after her death, Fletcher posted the videos on Facebook. She was charged and taken to jail the next day.

A Hamilton County grand jury indicted her on charges of aggravated murder, murder and two counts of felonious assault.

Fletcher pleaded not guilty at a brief hearing Thursday.

If Fletcher posts bail and is released from the county jail, a court order, illegibly written by the magistrate who handled her arraignment, orders her to remain at home under electronic monitoring and to leave only for court and medical appointments.

Court officials identified the magistrate as Tom Beridon.

Cincinnati police initially ruled it a case of self-defense, but the grand jury’s charges make it clear that prosecutors see things differently.

Her indictment states that she “deliberately and with prior calculation and design, caused the death of Nyema Norton.”
