With a solid foundation already in place, Forslund has plenty of room for growth

Forslund spent part of the 2023-24 season with Falu IF in the Swedish third division, recording 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists) in 19 games. He also scored 16 points (13 goals, three assists) in seven games with Falu IF’s U-20 team.

Red Wings assistant general manager and director of amateur scouting Kris Draper said he thinks the ceiling is high for Forslund.

“Playing against those guys at a lower level, Charlie stood out,” Draper said. “He’s got good size, he can skate and he can really shoot the puck … We did a lot of background checks on him and you sit there and think, this is someone who could be really good for us in the future.”

At 6’3″, 200 pounds and still growing, Forslund says he’s learning to use his height to his advantage.
