‘Blue Bloods’ boss reveals finale of show inspired by iconic series

With the end in sight, the showrunner of the long-running drama, Kevin Wadeshared his thoughts on how he and his colleagues went about wrapping up the show.

“I’ve thought about it a lot, along with my colleagues,” said Wade, 70. TV line in an interview published Thursday, September 5.

Wade added that he did his homework before preparing for the finale, drawing inspiration from some classic shows in television history.

“I’ve been rewatching series finales of major shows, going back to CRUSH And Cheers And Mary Tyler Mooreand certainly The Sopranos“I looked at a lot of them for what they might have in common, and what they fundamentally had in common, if I boil it down to it, is that they put on a great show, and then in the last few minutes, they made a little pivot to the fact that it’s also the last show.”

The remaining episodes of Blue blood“Season 14 will resume airing on Friday, October 18.

Blue blood Fans were devastated in November 2023 when CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach and President of CBS Studios David Stapf announced that the series would end after season 14.

He has dominated Friday nights with unprecedented dominance since his first broadcast and has established himself as a pillar of our winning programming with an exceptionally devoted fan base,” the pair said in a joint statement. “We will be forever grateful to the legendary Leonard Goldberg for the development of this flagship series and for the incredible casting led by Tom Selleckwhom America considered family and whom it considered welcome guests at Reagan’s dinner table.

A few months later, lead actor Tom Selleck admitted that he still hoped the network would change its mind about ending the series.

“I will continue to believe that CBS will eventually come to its senses,” Selleck, 79, said in an interview with CBS News in May. “We’re the third most scripted show of all time. We’re winning the night. Every actor wants to come back. And I can tell you one thing, we’re not sliding off a cliff. We’re making a good show and we’re still holding our own.”

Selleck, who played Commissioner Frank Reagan, was on Blue blood since the series premiered in 2010. He starred alongside Donnie Wahlberg (Detective Danny Reagan), Bridget Moynahan (Erin Reagan), Will Estes (Sergeant Jamie Reagan) and Len Cariou (Henry Reagan).

Following CBS’s announcement that Blue blood was canceled, Selleck paid tribute to the series in a statement.

“For the past 13 years, it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also showcases the importance of family,” Selleck said.
