Former Alabama and Memphis guard Jahvon Quinerly announced Saturday that he is retiring from basketball.

“I have made the decision to walk away from basketball, which has shaped me greatly into who I am since I can remember,” he wrote on Instagram. “The game has opened so many doors for me and for that I will always be grateful, but God has chosen a different path for me.”

“Even though I have accomplished incredible things, had invaluable experiences, and made lifelong friendships, I have experienced some of my lowest moments. And as much as it pains me to write this, I can’t continue this fight with something I’m no longer in love with.”
