Meet Sophie Dymoke, Matthew Goode's wife

As A Discovery of Witches finds a new fan base thanks to its release on Netflix, many are curious to know what star Matthew Goode, who plays vampire Matthew Clairmont, does in real life. A Discovery of WitchesGoode starred in The offer like Robert Evans, Freud’s Last Session like CS Lewis, and horror movie Abigail. He lives in Surrey, England, with his wife, Sophie Dymoke, and their three children.

“My wife is a very good judge of character and has been in rooms with very famous people, and most of the time she comes back to me and says, ‘Should we go to the bar, they’re idiots?'” Goode said in an interview.

Here, get to know Matthew Goode’s wife, Sophie:

She worked in the fashion industry.

She studied at the University of Wales, Swansea, where she obtained a degree in economics. After graduating, she worked for Donna Karan, Alice and Olivia, Diesel and Vince, among other brands.

Matthieu and Sophie met through his neighbor.

They met in 2005. “She was sitting on my doorstep when I came home from filming in Poland or somewhere. It was a few years ago. She was best friends with my neighbour Emily in Clapham. She had locked herself out. I was a bit upset and quite tired. From what I remember, I opened the door and carried her bag upstairs. But apparently I shrugged, I didn’t talk to her, I opened the door but I didn’t carry her suitcase upstairs,” he recalled in an interview with the Scottish HeraldShe doesn’t blame him for this bad start: “We met at Emily’s wedding and we lasted longer than that marriage.”

She is a “confident traveler.”

“My wife is a much more confident traveler because she worked in the fashion industry,” Goode said. Condé Nast Traveler“When I travel, it’s usually for work and when I arrive in a city, I’m more concerned with the character I’m playing than anything else, although, of course, we have days off and I like to go to nice restaurants and bookstores. But I’m more confident when I travel with my wife by my side.”

Sophie is a horse rider.

The key to a good marriage, Goode said, is “a good cellar. A place where you can store wine. And not be in each other’s pockets all the time. You have to have something for yourself. I’ve always had a hobby. When the kids are in school, I go fishing. Sophie used to ride a lot when she was a kid and she’s gotten back into it recently. So we have a bit of fun on the side.”

She is the mother of three children.

Matthew and Sophie have three children: Matilda (born 2009), Teddie (born 2013) and Ralph (born 2015).
