Man faces third drink-driving charge after high-speed crash in Cavendish

WOODSTOCK — A Windsor County man has been arrested for his third DUI, as well as careless driving and speeding, after he was caught driving nearly double the speed limit in Cavendish.

The Windsor County Sheriff’s Department reported that on September 6, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Lt. Thomas Battista was patrolling the area when he spotted a white Nissan Xterra traveling 94 mph in a 50 mph zone on Cavendish Highway 103, specifically in the Cavendish Gulf area.

Following a traffic stop on Greven Rd Extension, Nelson Kendall, 38, of Baltimore, was taken into custody.

According to the sheriff’s office, Kendall faces multiple charges and was issued a speeding ticket for more than $600.

The patrol was part of an operation funded by a grant from the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, designed to increase highway safety and administered by the Vermont State Highway Safety Office’s Transportation Agency.

Kendall is scheduled to appear in Windsor District Court in White River Junction to face the charges.
