Man dies after possible drowning in Pierce County

CITY OF CLIFTON, Wis. (WEAU) – A man is dead following a possible drowning incident in Pierce County.

According to a press release from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at approximately 1:24 p.m., authorities received a report of a possible drowning at Kinnickinnic State Park in the Town of Clifton.

The press release states that the investigation showed that Keith Taylor, 66, of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, dove from a diving board on a parked pontoon and did not initially resurface.

Family and friends recovered Taylor’s body and began life-saving measures, which continued after first responders arrived, until Taylor was pronounced dead, according to the news release.
