Carlo Ancelotti will have to make several tactical adjustments ahead of Real Madrid’s next game against Real Sociedad on Saturday.

Due to injuries in the squad, the Italian has no choice but to make significant changes to his starting XI, and he will look for answers from the bench.

Interestingly, two players could benefit from this situation: Brahim Diaz and Arda Guler. Both have been regular substitutes under Ancelotti but have recently caught the eye with impressive performances for their respective national teams, Morocco and Turkey.

Their form on the international stage has sent a clear message to the manager that they are ready to progress and contribute at club level.

A look at their performances

Brahim, who represented Morocco, has put in some remarkable performances during the international break. He found the back of the net in Morocco’s convincing 4-1 win over Gabon and then scored a crucial last-minute goal in a tight 0-1 win over Lesotho.

Although he only played 33 minutes in that last game, Brahim’s 93rd-minute winner was vital for his country, demonstrating his ability to make an impact in critical moments.

Those two goals, in just six appearances for Morocco, have undoubtedly boosted his confidence ahead of his return to club duty.

Guler shone for Turkey in the 3-1 win over Iceland, providing an assist for one of the goals. The contribution adds to Guler’s growing tally with his country, where he now has three assists and two goals in just eight appearances.

Guler has shown resilience in particular in recovering from an injury he suffered against Wales.

With both players in excellent form, Ancelotti will certainly consider their inclusion in the starting XI against Real Sociedad.

Their recent performances may well be enough to convince the manager that they deserve more game time in what promises to be a tough game as Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni are all expected to miss out through injury.
