Two thieves caught on camera robbing Springfield mall

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Two men were caught on camera robbing a Springfield mall.

Golden Hill Center owner Kerri Le says she was beaten multiple times and hopes that by releasing the security video she will get an arrest.

“I found out about it through one of my tenants. He called me and said, ‘Kerri, you need to sit down,’” Le said.

She says thieves have stolen eight large air conditioners from her Kearney Street property since June.

“I wasn’t really upset until I came here and saw how it was going,” she said.

It is believed that the burglars used cutting tools to remove the large units.

“There was an air conditioner here that was stolen. It was one of the first ones that was stolen,” she said, showing us the damage. “Yeah, three here were stolen. Here are two more here. They’re working on this one as we can see. They’ve already cut the cords. So any time, they’ll definitely be back.”

He said he checked his surveillance video and found that two men driving a large pickup truck were responsible for at least one of the burglaries.

“They’re taking something that doesn’t belong to them. They’re probably getting very little benefit from it while we’re suffering thousands of dollars lost,” she said.

She says she is taking steps to protect her business.

“We are moving all of our units to the roof, which is costing us extra money. So we are going to move them to the roof. Hopefully that will solve the problem. We have installed additional cameras. Hopefully that will help.”

She hopes those responsible will be arrested soon.

“We need to lock them up because they’re doing this to me. I also know this stuff happens a lot in Springfield. I think they do this to other people too. We need to stop these people one way or another. We need the community to come together and do this,” she said.

If you have any information regarding these thefts, you are asked to call the Springfield Police Department.
