Ardmore shooting charges upgraded to murder after victim’s death

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – An Ardmore man who was charged with shooting with intent to kill during a Labor Day weekend shooting has had his charges upgraded to murder after the man he allegedly shot died.

William Roberts, 23, is now charged with first-degree murder after being accused of shooting Rueben Marris on August 31, according to court documents.

Marris was airlifted to a Plano hospital in critical condition and died a week later.

Ardmore police said the shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Park SE near Bourland Rd.

If convicted, Roberts faces the death penalty or life in prison.
