Rugrats’ Adventures in Gameland are now available

A timeless cartoon like Rugrats may disappear for years, but it’s never truly forgotten. And that’s certainly the case here, as a brand new Rugrats game is coming out in the form of Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland, more than 20 years after the show’s final episode aired.

It’s time to peel back those layers because Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland is available today on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

At the Pickle house, a commercial has just shown a new Reptar video game. Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil know they have to play this game themselves and will stop at nothing to do so. A portal in the back of the television leads to Reptar, but to open it, they must collect coins.

And how do they collect coins? By pretending to be in their own video game!

Taking inspiration from some classic Rugrats episodes, Adventures in Gameland features 2D platforming levels with coins hidden inside. But just because they’re babies doesn’t mean they’ve had it easy. Heavily inspired by classic NES games from the ’90s, these babies will have to work hard to collect all the coins.

Retro inspired, retro playable

Heavily inspired, Adventures in Gameland goes even further. In addition to the game being presented in the traditional cartoon setting, the game is also fully playable in 8-bit graphics, with 8-bit sound as a bonus. This is much more than just adding a quick filter to the screen.

So, pick your favorite baby, grab a cookie, and send him off on his next big adventure.
