8-foot ‘swamp puppy’ trapped after wandering into Southwest Florida home

BONITA SPRINGS, Florida – In southwest Florida, residents of Bonita Springs got quite the surprise on their doorstep.

An 8-foot alligator decided he wanted to say hello!

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office posted a video on Facebook on Sept. 9 and said deputies and Florida Fish and Wildlife workers subdued the alligator and moved the heavy reptile into a trapper’s truck.

“Over the weekend, this 8-foot swamp pup showed up on a Bonita Springs resident’s doorstep!” the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office reported that FWC was able to move the alligator to a safer location.
