Wanted man with loaded handgun arrested; woman caught shoplifting at Marc’s: Middleburg Heights police blotter

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio –

Arrest warrant served: Pearl Road

A wanted Cleveland man, 33, was arrested at about 10:30 am Sept. 5 on Pearl.

A license-plate-reading camera alerted police that a Cadillac CTS connected with a crime was traveling on Pearl near Lucerne Drive.

Police then learned that the registered owner of the Cadillac, the Cleveland man, was wanted for rape and gross sexual imposition by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office.

Police spotted the Cadillac northbound on Pearl at Bagley Road. They activated their overhead lights and siren and pulled over the car on Pearl north of Smith Road.

Police rushed out of their cruiser and ordered the man to exit the Cadillac. He complied and was taken into custody.

In the Cadillac’s glove compartment, police found a loaded pistol, which he was not allowed to have due to the arrest warrant.

Shoplifting: Southland Drive

A Middleburg Heights woman, 59, was cited at about 1 pm Sept. 8 after she was caught stealing merchandise from Marc’s Deeper Discount Store, 6849 Southland.

A store security guard saw the woman place some items in a shopping cart and other items in a bag. At a self-checkout register, she paid for some of the items but not all of them.

The woman walked out of the store without paying for all the merchandise. The security guard stopped her outside.

Arrest warrant served: Engle Road

A wanted Cleveland woman, 41, was arrested at about 9 p.m. Sept. 9 at Quality Inn, 7233 Engle.

Police were called to the hotel because the woman refused to leave. They learned that she was wanted for aggravated threat in Middleburg Heights and operating a vehicle under the influence in Brooklyn.

Shoplifting: Southland Drive

A Cleveland woman, 50, was cited at about 2:30 pm Sept. 6 after she was caught stealing merchandise from Giant Eagle, 6869 Southland.

A Giant Eagle security guard stopped the woman after seeing her drop several items into a bag and walk out of the store without paying.

The woman had a history of stealing merchandise from Giant Eagle.
