TenZ Announces Retirement From Competitive Valorant — SiegeGG

VCT 2021 Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík and VCT Masters Madrid champion Tyson “TenZ” Ngo announced his retirement from competitive Valorant in a seven-minute video on his personal X account.

After competing in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the Canadian decided to try his luck in the competitive Valorant scene. He eventually became one of the best players the game has ever known.

After wrapping up his patch in Counter Strike, where he competed for Cloud9, among other teams, the Canadian made a jump to the competitive Valorant scene as he represented the blue organization in several regional tournaments.

In March 2021, TenZ joined Sentinels. During his time there, the player led the red team to several high-profile trophies in the North American region. After winning the VCT 2021 North America Stage 2 Challenger 2 after a 3–0 victory over his former team, Sentinels qualified for the VCT 2021 Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík by taking first place in North America. In May 2021, TenZ became an International Champion under Sentinels after defeating Fnatic at the VCT 2021 Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík.

The Canadian’s first performance in Valorant Champions came in December 2021. Unfortunately for him and his teammates, Sentinels lost to KRÜ Esports as they failed to qualify for the group stage. The team’s disappointing performance in Berlin, Germany was followed by a lack of international play in the 2022 season. In 2023, the team’s results did not improve.

However, the 2024 season was completely different. After winning the VCT 2024 Americas Kickoff, Sentinels were crowned international champions nearly three years later after defeating Gen.G Esports in the VCT Masters Madrid grand final.

After missing out on VCT Masters Shanghai, Sentinels finished the season with a fourth-place finish at Valorant Champions 2024, losing to Team Heretics in the Lower Bracket Semifinals.
