A’ja Wilson and Aces teammates tackle Becky Hammon after Fever win

The Las Vegas Aces improved to 24-13 in the WNBA season on Friday after beating the Indiana Fever 78-74.

It’s a big win for Las Vegas, which saw four players (Jackie Young, A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum and Chelsea Gray) score in double figures. It’s a good sign for Las Vegas, which has struggled to find cohesion and consistency on offense for most of the season.

Despite their on-court struggles early in the year, the Aces have always seemed to have great chemistry off the court. That’s evidenced by the number of strong personalities on their roster and some of the pranks they’ve pulled on team members and coaching staff, such as when they pretended to abandon rookie Kate Martin at a restaurant after a team dinner in June.

The most recent victim of the Aces’ pranks was their own head coach, Becky Hammon.

After Friday’s win over Indiana, A’ja Wilson posted a video of herself and the other Aces trolling Hammon with the viral TikTok prank “Just Give Me My Money” on her Instagram.

According to Forbes, “the prank involves two or more people standing in a circle or line. One at a time, they chant “Just give me my money,” often in a humorous, theatrical voice. Each statement elicits enthusiastic applause from the other participants. But when the person who is unaware of the joke chimes in with his or her version of the phrase (which is almost always last), they are met with awkward silence.”

The Aces’ version started with Wilson reciting the chant, then Martin, then Kelsey Plum, then Alysha Clark, then Chelsea Gray, then Sydney Colson, then Kierstan Bell, then Kiah Stokes, then Jackie Young (who did a hilarious silent version, which perfectly portrayed her personality), and finally Becky Hammon.

Once Hammon was done, his entire team of Aces fell silent until they couldn’t contain their laughter seconds later.

Hammon seemed to be pretty good at the joke, laughing along with her Aces players at the end. And she’s probably ready to take the brunt of more jokes if her team keeps winning.
