Broncos’ Bo Nix gives clear explanation for costly interception against Steelers

Denver Broncos starting quarterback Bo Nix struggled in the team’s 13-6 Week 2 loss Sunday to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has yet to throw a touchdown in two NFL starts.

Nix had a chance to score six points for the Broncos on Sunday, but an errant throw in the end zone was neatly intercepted.

After the game, a reporter asked Nix to explain the play to them, which he did, albeit bluntly.

“Uh, yeah. I dropped it. I threw it to the other team,” Nix explained flatly.

This is certainly a way of detailing what went wrong in the room.

Denver drove down the field and reached the Steelers’ 6-yard line in the third quarter. On second-and-goal, Nix tried to find Courtland Sutton in the end zone, but Pittsburgh’s Cory Trice Jr. recovered the ball. It was the fourth interception of the season for Nix, who has struggled to read coverages and force throws early in his professional career.

That particular throw seemed to be a sore point for Nix, who didn’t want to say more about it after the game.

Nix completed 20 of 35 passes for 246 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. He led Denver in rushing with 25 yards on four attempts.
