49ers’ Brock Purdy has compliments on Brian Flores’ Vikings plan

One of the most surprising results of a wild second week in the NFL was how easily the Minnesota Vikings dismantled the San Francisco 49ers on both sides of the ball.

Not only did Sam Darnold and an electric Justin Jefferson take down the 49ers defense, but the Vikings defense consistently baffled Brock Purdy and friends en route to a lopsided outing where the 49ers scored just 17 points while converting just 20 percent of their third-down plays.

After the game, as the Vikings celebrated their 2-0 score, microphones on the field picked up Purdy quickly complimenting Minnesota defensive coordinator Brian Flores on his complicated — and effective — scheme:

Flores has a reputation for confusing quarterbacks with his defenses while aggressively controlling the line of scrimmage. Sunday against the 49ers was no exception. It’s a big reason the Vikings remain undefeated. Kudos to Purdy for showing grace in defeat and admitting reality to one of the NFL’s best coordinators.
