Devon Walker and Dulcé Sloan to co-headline silent comedy festival

There will certainly be laughs, but Devon Walker and Dulcé Sloan’s upcoming concert promises to be a quiet affair.

The two late-night stars will headline New York City’s “first-ever silent stand-up comedy festival” this weekend. Due to sound restrictions, the rooftop show will be broadcast via headphones using the same technology used by silent nightclubs.

“All set against the breathtaking backdrop of Pier 57, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of New York City while laughing your ass off,” reads the SILENT Stand-Up Comedy Festival event description.

The daylong event, hosted by the performing arts organization NYLaughs, will kick off with a “family hour” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A musical improv by Dick Patrol will follow at 2 p.m., followed by a stand-up comedy show from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Walker will then take the stage as the festival’s first headliner from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by Sloan from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Walker has joined the cast of Saturday night live in 2022, and has just been promoted to repertory status ahead of the show’s upcoming 50th season. He toured his stand-up this summer alongside SNL his castmates Andrew Dismukes and James Austin Johnson, and has an upcoming special produced by Kevin Hart.

Sloan has been a correspondent for The daily show since 2017, and most recently she was a guest host on the show in April. Earlier this year, she wrote the book Hello friends! Stories of destiny and daily work.

The SILENT Stand-Up Comedy Festival will be held this Sunday, September 22nd at Pier 57 in Manhattan. Admission is free upon RSVP and is on a first-come, first-served basis. A credit card or ID will be required to borrow headsets. Ticket RSVPs can be made here.
