NDC Protest: Police deny shooting incident at Kumasi Electoral Commission headquarters

By Gifty Amofa

Accra, September 18, GNA – Ghanaian police have denied reports that protesters were shot dead at the Electoral Commission (EC) offices in Kumasi during the “enough is enough” protest in the city.

“No protesters were injured by the police,” said a statement released by the Police Public Affairs Directorate (PAD).

The statement, however, states that some protesters who violated the agreement reached by forcing their way into the EC office premises were subdued.

She urged the media to be circumspect in their reporting.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), the largest opposition political party, staged a nationwide protest on Tuesday, demanding a forensic examination of the voters’ register to detect inconsistencies.

The “Enough is Enough” demonstration also demanded the rapid publication of the judicial audit, the cancellation of any illegal electoral transfer and a new exhibition of the electoral list in five days, among others.
