Major train disruptions: Northern Railway cancels, diverts services due to derailment near Vrindavan Road station – Railways News

Northern Railway has announced cancellation of three trains and rerouting of 26 express and mail trains following the derailment of a freight train near Vrindavan Road station in Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place on September 18 between Palwal and Mathura sections, affecting a significant number of train services.

Details and impact of the derailment

According to Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northern Railway, the derailment involved 25 coal-laden wagons blocking three railway lines between Vrindavan Road and Ajhai railway station on the Mathura Junction-Palwal section of Agra division. As a result, only one line is currently available for train traffic, leading to widespread disruption.

The affected trains include key routes such as the New Delhi-Hyderabad Express, New Delhi-Tambaram Express, Hazrat Nizamuddin-Mumbai Bandra Terminus, Amritsar Junction-Mumbai Bandra Terminus, Hazrat Nizamuddin-Mumbai CSM Terminus and Hazrat Nizamuddin-Jabalpur among others. Passengers travelling on these routes are advised to check the latest updates on the running status and routes of their train before their journey to avoid any inconvenience.

Railway officials are working diligently to clear blocked lines and restore normal service as quickly as possible. Northern Railways has urged travellers to keep themselves informed of any changes or cancellations to their train services during this period of disruption.
