Silent Hill 2 is a PS5 console exclusive for at least a year – GameSpew

The remake of Silent Hill 2 is just around the corner and, honestly, as a huge fan of the original, I couldn’t be more excited. It looks like Bloober Team has done a great job in remaking the horror classic, updating various elements and mechanics that truly needed it while keeping the heart of the game faithful to the original. And thanks to the power of the PS5, it should be more immersive than ever before.

That’s the focus of the latest trailer for the remake of Silent Hill 2, in fact. Showing off new gameplay, it highlights the various ways that the PS5 and the DualSense controller add to the immersion while playing. There’s haptic feedback, for example, so you feel every impact as James strikes out with melee weapons such as a pipe. And adaptive triggers makes using firearms more realistic, too.

Add in other features like 3D audio and the DualSense lightbar changing color to represent your health, and there are definite advantages to playing the remake of Silent Hill 2 on PS5 rather than PC.

The trailer reveals another interesting bit of information, too: Silent Hill 2 is a PS5 console exclusive for at least a year. So, while it’s available on both PS5 and PC at launch, which is 8th October unless you buy the fancy digital deluxe edition which offers two-days early access, it won’t be available on Xbox Series X/S or whatever Nintendo is cooking up until at least the same date in 2025. And even then, a port is not guaranteed.
