Jasper County Detention Center Catches Fire

RIDGELAND, SC (WSAV) – The Jasper County Detention Center caught fire Saturday night, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jeff Crosby told News 3.

Crosby said the call came in around 8:30 p.m. and several officers were dispatched to the detention center. The fire has since been extinguished.

We are told that several patients were taken to hospital with burns.

The Jasper County Detention Center has conducted a census of inmates. They believe all prisoners have been accounted for. There does not appear to be a threat to the public.

The cause or extent of the fire is unknown at this time.
