By giving his first-generation stallion, Tiz the Law, his 12th victory, it was Silent law (Tiz the Law–Southern Silence, by Dixie Union) led the way to the winner’s circle against three others in his lid-lifting tournament debut at Los Alamitos on Saturday afternoon.

The 2-year-old filly may have taken a clumsy step at the start, but the heavy favorite quickly got going and took aim at the leader. Rolling into the far turn, the Bob Baffert trainee sped to the finish line in style, with a several-length pass on Calm down (Vekoma).

The final race time was :57.18.
