A young patient at Massachusetts General Hospital got a big surprise from his favorite superhero on Friday.

Star Ryan Reynolds visited eight-year-old cancer patient Nash in an interaction captured on video by Mass General for Children.

The meeting was arranged by Reynolds and Nash’s mother, Angie Poirier, she said on social media. She said she sent the “Deadpool” actor a photo of Nash wearing his radiation mask, which he decorated to look like the superhero. Poirier said Reynolds wanted to meet Nash and arranged the surprise for him.

In the video, Reynolds enters the room, introduces himself and says he has gifts for a stunned Nash, whose jaw is agape. Nash showed the actor his decorated radiation mask, to which Reynolds asked for a photo of the two of them in the mask.

“Everything you’re going through is a lot for an eight-year-old to deal with,” Reynolds told Nash in the video. “I hope you know that. This is serious.”

Later in the video, Reynolds called his “Deadpool and Wolverine” co-star Hugh Jackman to also say hello to Nash.

“It’s so nice to meet you Nash, and tell Ryan to stop calling me,” Jackman joked.

Reynolds said goodbye to Nash as the fan headed to his treatment for the day. Later that day, Reynolds thanked the hospital staff in a social media post, saying he wished all children could benefit from treatment at MGH.

“And I wish every parent with a sick child could trust their child with such knowledgeable people,” Reynolds said in the message. “Nash, you’re the best. I love you, buddy.”
