Man, 25, charged after allegedly shooting his brother

An argument between two brothers on Saturday evening ended in a deadly shooting, according to police.

Officers were called to an apartment near Kingston Road and Markham Road in Scarborough just after 11:00 pm When they arrived, police found 27-year-old Christopher Malcolm with gunshot wounds.

He was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and died shortly after.

Police believe he was shot by his younger brother, 25-year-old Carlton Malcolm, who was apprehended on Sunday afternoon and charged with second degree murder.

He is scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Center on Monday.

Police say neither of the men resided at the building where the shooting happened, but would not explain why the men were there.

Several witnesses have been in contact with police so far. An investigation by the homicide unit is ongoing.

Officers say they are working to obtain surveillance video from the apartment building and its surrounding areas.

There have been 63 homicides in the city so far this year and more than 30 gun-related deaths.
