New Delhi (India), September 23: inDrive, a global mobility and urban services platform, announces the launch of Driving Naari program in Chandigarh and Kolkata to empower women by providing them with equal opportunities in the driving arena. The program will enable underprivileged women to become professional drivers and provide them with access to “gainful and dignified livelihoods.” 30 women are participating in our inDrive Driving Naari campaign, 15 from Chandigarh and 15 from Kolkata.

Pavit Nanda Anand, Head of Communications, inDrive, Asia Pacific, said, “inDrive’s Driving Naari program is changing lives. We are empowering women to become professional drivers. This initiative will encourage them to be independent and confident individuals and take charge of their lives. We have proven that GPS enabled all candidates to drive a Scooty electric vehicle in Chandigarh and Kolkata to connect to a GPS. We will be replicating this campaign in different cities across India. It will address several criteria: empowering women, bringing more women into the workforce, providing a safe mobility option especially for women, contributing to a cleaner environment and breaking gender stereotypes about what work a woman can and cannot do.”

Avik Karmakar, Head of GTM, South Asia, inDrive, said, “Driving Naari is an initiative by inDrive that aims to empower women by pushing the boundaries to enable them to discover their true potential behind the wheel. It’s about driving change. By enabling women to pursue a career in driving, inDrive is not only reshaping the ride-hailing landscape but also paving the way for a future where gender equality reigns supreme on the road while ensuring that their lives are improved and they become empowered to earn a living on their own.”

Pratip Mazumder, Country Manager, inDrive India, said, “Women are excelling in their chosen fields and achieving remarkable feats. This includes driving, with more women than ever choosing to drive their own vehicles or pursue a career in driving. Driving Naari by inDrive is a significant step towards the electrification of two-wheeler fleets in India. Our society is becoming more progressive and accepting women in traditionally gender-specific roles like driving. This has helped dispel outdated stereotypes and created a more conducive environment for women drivers.”

“The empowerment of women in a country can be a step forward and a step towards an inclusive and brighter future. As more women take to the wheel, they are not just driving; they are moving towards a brighter and more equal India.”

Vikrant Massey, Actor and Brand Ambassador of inDrive, said, “inDrive’s Driving Naari campaign is a testament to the company’s commitment to fighting injustice and creating positive change for all communities. I am truly happy to be a part of this initiative and proud of my association with such a people-centric organisation.”
