Texas Fan Matthew McConaughey Sends Message to Arch Manning After First Career Start

Oscar-winning actor and Texas football fan Matthew McConaughey congratulated Arch Manning after earning his first career start as the Longhorns’ starting quarterback.

The Dallas Buyers Club star took to X, formerly Twitter, to discuss Manning’s first career start. He’s in top form after the Longhorns’ latest win.

“PS. Congratulations to Arch Manning on his first start as a Longhorn,” McConaughey began. “There’s plenty more to come.”

The reason Manning started on September 21, 2024 was due to an injury to quarterback Quinn Ewers. He injured his oblique against UTSA the week before.

In his freshman season, Manning completed 75 percent of his passes and threw four touchdowns in Texas’ game against UTSA. He also ran for a 67-yard touchdown.

Still, the Texas football team dominated the Monroe Warhawks, a UL team. They won 51-3, thanks to running back Jaydon Blue. He rushed for 124 yards and scored three touchdowns in the victory.

Texas has big games against Oklahoma and Georgia in October. However, they first have to face Mississippi State on September 28.
