Palm trees and a mobile home caught fire, no injuries reported

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma Fire Department (YFD) responded to reports of palm trees catching fire.

According to a news release, the fire happened before 2 a.m. Monday at a trailer park in the area of 21st Drive and 12th Street.

YFD says when Yuma Engine 4 (YE04) arrived on scene, they reported “heavy involvement of palm tree fires and a mobile home,” leading them to head to the double-wide mobile home, located in the area of Dora Avenue.

The YFD also states that “access was limited due to a dead-end street,” and Yuma Department Chief 1 (YDC1) established an “incident action plan as a gunfire defense attack, prioritizing the protection of surrounding homes.”

Additionally, the YFD says firefighters “launched an aggressive attack on the fire from surrounding areas,” which brought the blaze under control 30 minutes later.

Although no injuries were reported, the YFD says its Community Risk Reduction Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
