NFL Rankings for Week 4: Parity Leaves Unexpected Outliers

Zeros are disappearing quickly from the NFL standings.

There are only five undefeated teams and three winless teams remaining after the first three weeks of the regular season.

Both clubs have the expected members…and the unexpected members.

The Chiefs and Bills are undefeated? Yawn.

The Vikings, Seahawks and Steelers are undefeated? Well, that’s more interesting.

The Titans have no wins? Sure.

The Jaguars? That’s more surprising.

The Bengals? Will they come back?

With parity pushing teams toward the middle, here are The Post’s Week 4 power rankings, including an attempt to find the sweet spots for the undefeated and winless:

1. Chiefs 3-0 (1)

Nick Bolton tackled Bijan Robinson for a loss on fourth down as the Chiefs finished their second red zone defense in the final four minutes and wrapped up a 22-17 victory over the Falcons. Patrick Mahomes threw two touchdown passes and Harrison Butker converted three field goals, including one to give the Chiefs their first lead with 9:40 left in the third quarter.

2. Bills 3-0 (3)

All the franchise stalwarts who left the team in the offseason and the Bills are somehow… better? Josh Allen led five touchdown drives on five first-half possessions, throwing passes to four different players and needing to attempt just two passes in the second half in a 47-10 loss to the Jaguars. Damar Hamlin recorded his first interception just 630 days after suffering a cardiac arrest on the field.

3. Vikings 3-0 (12)

Sam Darnold tied his career high with four touchdown passes to four different receivers, including Justin Jefferson, and the Vikings followed up their victory over a Super Bowl contender (the 49ers) with another victory, thumping the Texans, 34-7. Jonathan Greenard tackled former teammate CJ Stroud three times. It was the Vikings’ largest margin of victory in five years.

4. Steelers 3-0 (10)

With Russell Wilson still sidelined, Justin Fields led two 12-play field goal drives in the second half and then connected on a 55-yard touchdown pass to Calvin Austin in the fourth quarter in a 20-10 victory over the Chargers. The defense allowed just 168 total yards and held three straight opponents to 10 points or fewer, like we were in the 1970s all over again.

5. Eagles 2-1 (7)

The Eagles, who were shut out for the first three quarters, turned to Saquon Barkley, who ran for touchdowns of 65 yards and 4 yards to steal a 15-12 victory from the Saints and redeem himself for his crucial dropped pass last week. Jalen Hurts’ two turnovers and head coach Nick Sirianni’s distaste for field goals left plenty of points off the scoreboard.

6. Lions 2-1 (6)

Jared Goff completed his first 14 passes, a stretch that spanned the entire first half as the Lions scored all of their points in a 20-13 victory over the Cardinals. Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs had a hook-and-ladder touchdown. David Montgomery ran for 105 yards and a touchdown and chewed up the final four minutes of regulation.

7. Packers 2-1 (8)

In his first game against his former team, Malik Willis, replacing an injured Jordan Love for the second straight game, threw for a touchdown and ran for another to lead the Packers to a 30-14 victory over the Titans. The Packers forced three turnovers, including a Jaire Alexander interception, and recorded eight sacks for the first time in 20 seasons.

8. Texans 2-1 (2)

Stroud threw two interceptions and had four sacks in the blowout loss. The Texans are 0-6 against the Vikings. Joe Mixon’s absence was clearly felt, though Cam Akers scored a touchdown in his first start for the Texans. Stefon Diggs’ long-delayed first return to Minnesota, where he was drafted, resulted in 10 receptions.

9. Jets 2-1 (9)

The Jets-Patriots rivalry has changed. Aaron Rodgers was in total control, throwing for 281 yards and touchdown passes to Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard in a 24-3 victory, Rodgers’ first from start to finish in front of a Jets home crowd. Will McDonald had two sacks and the Jets snapped a six-game losing streak Thursday.

10. Seahawks 3-0 (14)

Zach Charbonnet ran for two touchdowns, DK Metcalf turned a bomb into a 71-yard touchdown reception and that was all the offense needed to beat the quarterback-struggling Dolphins 24-3. The defense allowed just 205 yards and tackled Skylar Thompson five times before Thompson — already filling in for Tua Tagovailoa — was also pulled. The Seahawks are 3-0 for the first time since 2020.

28. Giants 1-2 (31)

Trailing by a touchdown just 11 seconds into the game, the Giants avoided disaster with first-half touchdown drives of 81 and 93 yards in a 21-15 comeback victory over the Browns. Daniel Jones threw two touchdown passes to Malik Nabers, and the defense recorded eight sacks, including a strip sack to force a Brian Burns turnover.
