DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A U.S. Navy supply ship operating in the Middle East was damaged in an incident that is under investigation, officials said Tuesday.

The damage to the USNS Big Horn comes after the tanker resupplied the USS Abraham Lincoln Strike Group and remained in the region amid heightened tensions over the war between Israel and Hamas and Israel’s ongoing strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

A U.S. Navy official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss matters not yet made public, said the damage occurred in the Middle East but declined to provide further details on its location.

“All crew members are safe and sound, we are assessing the situation and will provide additional information later,” the official said. There was no sign of oil leaking from the vessel.

Another U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity for the same reason, said the ship was being supported by private tugs and that an assessment was still underway for the vessel.
