Dave Canales Will Prepare You For Running Through A Wall After Panthers’ First Win

Dave Canales Will Prepare You For Running Through A Wall After Panthers’ First Win

The Carolina Panthers had an eventful week. Just a week after benching Bryce Young and causing a week of controversy, the Panthers earned their first win of the season. Carolina beat Las Vegas on Sunday in a 36-22 victory that they controlled from start to finish.

Panthers head coach Dave Canales gave an epic locker room speech after the win.

“That’s Panthers football. That’s how we play football,” Canales said in a fiery celebratory speech after the game. “That’s our football. Run with the ball when you want to, stop the run, throw it over their heads and stop them from doing it.”

The speech included thanks for several individual contributors, including Diontae Johnson, who had a career-high eight receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown.

“Listen, it’s the process,” Canales continued. “We had a great week, what did you expect from Sunday? We had a great day, okay. You fought all the time and we managed to make something happen at the end. But it’s about appreciating each other, playing for each other and trusting this process. What is our level? Maintaining the level. We’re not changing anything about that.”

Canales’ speech ended with Panthers owner David Tepper coming up to him and giving him the game ball. Canales was then surrounded by his players who were all smiles and cheers.

Starting Andy Dalton at QB was obviously the biggest change the Panthers made heading into Week 3. It paid off in a huge way.

Dalton put up phenomenal numbers in the win, throwing for 319 yards and three touchdowns, masterfully orchestrating the Panthers’ offense on one run after another.

Dalton shared that he felt comfortable being himself and elevating the players around him on Sunday.

“That was one of the things that brought me into this game, I got a chance to be myself and be on the field like I normally do,” Dalton said after the game, per ESPN’s David Newton. “I’m normally pretty calm, I’m normally relaxed. Guys were having fun. I was just trying to make sure guys were having fun, because you put in a ton of work for this game … and now you get to enjoy the work that you put in.”

Andy Dalton is the only NFL QB in the last three weeks to throw for 300 yards and three touchdowns in a single game.

Dalton will try to keep Carolina on track in Week 4 as the Panthers face Joe Burrow and the Bengals.
