MEGADETH Responds to Peter Frampton in Cancellation Blame Game

MEGADETH Responds to Peter Frampton in Cancellation Blame Game

Richmond, VA, faces a double dose of disappointment as both MEGADETH And Peter Frampton have cancelled their concerts at Virginia Credit Union Live! Over the past few weeks.

On Sunday, September 15, MEGADETH announced on social media that their show was canceled, citing “unexpected and unforeseeable circumstances.” Two days later, Frampton also canceled his scheduled performance on Tuesday night, apologizing for the inconvenience on Facebook and offering refunds at the time of purchase.

Things took another turn when Frampton addressed the cancellations during a concert at the Met in Philadelphia on September 19. He implied that MEGADETH’s soundcheck had caused structural damage to the stage, telling the crowd, according to Blabbermouth.net: “We had a show canceled the other day because of bad weather. And MEGADETH also did a soundcheck, I think a couple of days before our show, and after they finished their soundcheck, there was structural damage to the stage. I don’t blame them – it could have been another band – but it sure looks like it. So, sorry, MEGADETH. I had to report you.”

This afternoon, MEGADETH released a statement stating that they were not able to do the soundcheck. Their rigger discovered damage to the venue’s grille while they were preparing to hang the lights, which led to the cancellation due to safety reasons.

Dave Mustaine commented: “It appears that Frampton was misinformed about the cancellation of our show. The decision was purely based on safety. It’s disappointing when someone you admire talks about you in public.”

However, according to the Richmond Times-DispatchVirginia Credit Union Live! confirmed there was no damage to the venue’s gate.

“The scheduled MEGADETH concert has been cancelled due to an alleged production issue,” the venue said. “Upon further inspection, we found no safety issues or damage to the venue’s grille.”

Megadeth Statement Clarifies Recent Show Cancellation

According to Peter Frampton’s recent statement, MEGADETH believes it is important to clarify some misinformation regarding the band’s recent show cancellation (Sunday September 15has Virginia Credit Union Live! at Richmond Circuit In Richmond, Virginia). As reported recently, Frampton said that MEGADETHThe soundcheck damaged the venue, forcing Frampton to also cancel his show a few days later.

MEGADETH I didn’t even have the chance to do a soundcheck in Richmond, Virginia, contrary to what Peter Frampton reports. MEGADETHThe venue rigger was in the venue’s steel grid system above the stage preparing to rig lights when he noticed that the venue grid was damaged. He immediately reported it to the promoters and venue. It was determined that this was unsafe for MEGADETH to suspend their production or put the band on stage at the risk of a failure of the internal network to support the weight of the lighting and sound of the tour which could fall on the band, the members of the crew or the public, as this could cause serious injury or death. Therefore, MEGADETHThe local promoter, venue and booking agents had no choice but to cancel the show.

“It appears that Frampton was misinformed about the cancellation of our show,” saysDAVE MUSTAINE of MEGADETH“The decision was made solely for security reasons. It’s disappointing to see someone you admire speaking about you in an indecent manner.”
