Delta Health System data breach leaked patients’ Social Security numbers, medical information | Console and Associates, PC

On September 5, 2024, Delta Health System filed a data breach notice with the Montana Attorney General after discovering that an unauthorized party gained access to portions of the company’s computer network. In the notice, Delta Health explained that the incident allowed an unauthorized party to access sensitive consumer information, which included their names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, state identification numbers, financial account information, medical information, and health insurance information. After completing its investigation, Delta Health began sending data breach notification letters to all individuals whose information was affected by the recent data security incident.

What caused the Delta Health System data breach?

According to these sources, on January 21, 2024, Delta Health detected unusual activity within its computer network. In response, Delta Health secured its systems and then began working with third-party specialists to investigate the incident and any potential impact to patient information.

Through this investigation, Delta Health was able to confirm that an unauthorized party gained access to its computer network between January 15, 2024 and January 21, 2024, including files containing confidential patient information.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Delta Health System reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was disclosed and which consumers were affected. While the information compromised varies by individual, it may include your name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth, Social Security number, driver’s license number, state identification number, financial account information, medical information, and health insurance information.

On March 20, 2024, and again on September 5, 2024, Delta Health System sent data breach letters to all individuals affected by the recent data security incident. These letters are intended to provide victims with a list of their information that was compromised.
