Man arrested after incident at ‘Rednecks with Paychecks’ event

MONTAGUE COUNTY, Texas (KAUZ) – Johnathan Earl Reid, 35, was booked into the Montague County Jail after an incident at a “Rednecks with Paychecks” event.

Montague County Sheriff Thomas said the incident began after Reid was confronted about possibly hitting a vehicle. After being confronted, Reid hit two vehicles in response. Sheriff Thomas said Reid continued to hit other vehicles and chase people after the incident.

Two people hiding behind one of the vehicles were hit. One suffered a shoulder injury and the other suffered a concussion. Both were taken to Muenster Hospital, according to the Montague County Sheriff’s Office.

Reid was charged with six counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle.

Sheriff Thomas also noted that Reid was intoxicated during the incident and said the sheriff’s department is considering charging the organizer because he did not have a mass gathering permit.
